Who We Serve

The Fish Stix Ministry offers activities and programs for adults (ages 21 and over) with special needs within the Coweta and Fayette County area. Our Ministry serves 50+ participants and families. With the exception of Fish Stix VBS (Adult Vacation Bible School), most programs and activities start in September and conclude in May.

Fish Stix Mission and Programs

The Fish Stix Ministry is a ministry program designed to support adults with disabilities with their growing faith in God. This ministry focuses on building and strengthening each participant’s faith formation. Aligned with the North American Lutheran Church (NALC), this ministry follows the vision for faith formation by “intentionally creating programs aimed at nurturing and developing disciples through education, worship, and other practices within the church.” Fish Stix Mission and Programs

Help the Fish Stix participants grow in confidence with their discipleship and outward expression of their faith through music and movement
Encourage the Fish Stix participants to learn and know scripture •Give the Fish Stix participants a sense of community and an outlet for fellowship and socialization
Encourage the Fish Stix participants to go into the world and share their love of Jesus with others
Discover and improve the expression of the spiritual gifts of each Fish Stix participant by offering a variety of programs
Encourage the Fish Stix participants to grow in confidence in front of large and small groups

Inclusion

Fish Stix Sunday School

Fish Stix Sunday School meets weekly on Sunday mornings from 9:00-10:00 AM. Weekly, we alternate studying the weekly Gospel lesson and rehearsing our Devotion in Motion movements.

Fish Stix (Devotion in Motion)

Fish Stix: Devotion in Motion is our large group (open to all participants) rehearsal for our dowel rod ministry. It meets 3rd Thursday of each month from 7:00-8:30 PM.

Pathways 2 (P2)

Pathways 2 Bible Study is a small group designed for quieter, shy, and lesser-verbal participants. To best support each individual, space is limited. The group meets on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 7:00–8:30 PM.

Friday Night Fun Night (FNFN)

Friday Night Fun Night meets the 2nd Friday of the month from 7:00-9:00 PM. This is a gathering for fun, friends, and fellowship activities.

Joy in the Morning Jam (JIM Jam)

Joy in the Morning Jam (J.i.M. Jam) is our hands-on music class featuring xylophones and hand chimes. No musical experience is necessary—just come ready to make music together! To create a supportive and engaging environment, space is limited. The group meets weekly on Wednesdays from 10:00–11:30 AM.

Fish Stix Annual Vacation Bible School

Fish Stix VBS is our 4-night vacation Bible school for adults that meets annually during 2nd week of July from 6:00-9:00 PM. Space is limited.

Fish Stix Players

Fish Stix Players – Theater class (meets weekly in January and February, 2026 dates and time TBD) Information about this program will be available in November. Email our Fish Stix Coordinator for more information.
