What We Believe
What we believe and why
As a congregation built on the historical
foundation of the Lutheran Confessions,
our beliefs can be summarized by the
five core truths of the Reformation:
Christ Alone
Christ Alone
We believe and confess our faith in the Triune God — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We
confess Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, the Word of God incarnate. Through his life,
death, and resurrection alone, we receive forgiveness and eternal life.
Grace Alone
Grace Alone
Salvation is entirely by God's grace. It is a gift of God that he showers upon us through
the means of His Word and the Sacraments of Holy Baptism and Holy Communion.
Faith Alone
Faith Alone
We believe and confess that all human beings are sinners in need of God's mercy. It is
by faith alone that we receive the salvation Christ has won through his victory over
death and the grave, and it is by faith that his righteousness is freely given to us.
Scripture Alone
Scripture Alone
We accept the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments as the inspired Word of God,
spoken in Law and Gospel, as the final authority for us in all matters of our
proclamation, faith, and life.
To God Alone Be the Glory
To God Alone Be the Glory
Having received the light of his grace, we seek to be a church that lives to the glory of
God, gathering around Word and Sacrament in worship, growing together as disciples
of Jesus Christ, and serving the world that he loves.
Our mission in Christ
Our Mission at WOG is with God’s help we are called to be a multi-generational traditional church, grounded in the Bible and focused on service in the community and mission outreach.

Values that Guide Us
Scripture shapes all we do, tradition anchors our faith, and community defines our calling. We value the priesthood of all believers, the centrality of Christ, and the power of God’s Word to change hearts and renew the world.
